Food insecurity is defined as limited or uncertain access to adequate food due to financial and social challenges. Many households facing hunger struggle with rising living costs, expensive housing, unemployment, and low-wage jobs. Nearly half of people experiencing food insecurity have incomes that are too high to qualify for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), leaving many families without the support they need.
